Copy from Xterm in Linux on Mac

Copying selected text from Xterm to any other application is not difficult, you only have to know how. It took me a while to find out, did not find it quickly on the Web, so here’s the solution.

The solution is to use the Three-button emulation:
Left mouse button = trackpad button
Right mouse button = Command + trackpad button
Middle mouse button = Option + trackpad button

Click on the starting point of the text. Scroll to the end of the text to be selected then OPTION-click at the end. The text is now selected.
Go to the window you want to copy your text to, COMMAND-click and the copied text appears.

Screenshot in OSX

Mac OSX has native support for screenshots. There are several ways to capture a screenshot. A list is presented here.

Capture the desktop:
Command-Shift-3 creates a PNG file on your desktop.
Command-Control-Shift-3 places a copy on the clipboard. You can then paste it in any other program.

Capture part of the desktop:
Command-Shift-4 gives you a cross-hairs, with which you can make a selection of you desktop. When you release the mouse button, a PNG file is created on your desktop.
Command-Control-Shift-4 will do the same, it will place a copy on the clipboard.
Command-Shift-4 and consecutively pressing the spacebar will show a camera icon, you can then chose a window form which a PNG file will be created on your desktop.
Command-Control-Shift-4 will place a copy on the clipboard.
